Charger Chillout Schedule
COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio Dominican softball team heads to Albertville, Alabama for the Charger Chillout that will take place over the course of three days. In those three days, the Black and Gold will play six games.
The Panthers are 0-4 entering the weekend. On Friday, ODU will play Delta St. and Spring Hill. Saturday they face off against Miles and Christian Brothers. They wrap up the weekend on Sunday by playing the host Alabama Huntsville and meeting Maryville for the third time this season.
Opening First Pitch
- Junior Alexis Stevens (Marion, Ohio) had a team high .455 batting average going 5-11 over the weekend. The middle infielder had two doubles, two RBIs, and accounted for three runs.
- Fellow middle infielder, Kendrick Sterling (Crothersville, Ind.), went 3-10 in four games. Sterling went 2-3 against Maryville on Saturday evening.
- Senior Braxton Downs (Louisville, Ky.) netted 41 putouts at first base, remaining perfect from the field. On Sunday, Downs went deep against the Saints, gathering her first homerun of the season. She followed with a double against the Railsplitters. The senior ended the weekend with four RBIs.
- Four pitchers saw the mound for the Black and Gold with senior Addison Smodilla (Terre Haute, Ind.) collecting two starts. The Indiana native pitched 13.2 innings, notching six strikeouts.
About The Competition
- Delta St. enters the Charger Chillout 0-5 after going winless at the Mardi Gras Invitational last weekend. Spring Hill sits at 1-5 after their opening weekend, picking up their only win in the last game of the Invitational.
- The Golden Bears of Miles open their season at the Charger Chillout with fellow G-MAC institution Ky. Wesleyan on Friday afternoon before facing Ohio Dominican on Saturday. Christian Brothers went 1-1 last weekend, heading into this weekend on a one game losing streak.
- The hosts, Alabama Huntsville, had a successful opening weekend, going 3-1 over two days of play.
- The Maryville Saints will meet Ohio Dominican for the third time this season already, holding a 2-0 record over the Panthers. The Saints are 2-2 overall after the LMU Invitational.
Game Time
The Black and Gold open the weekend with Delta St. on Friday with a 12:00 PM start time. Ohio Dominican ends day one with Spring Hill with a 5:00 PM first pitch.
