Eddie Miller-Garrett Adds Harlon Hill Nominee to Accolades

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. - For the fourth time in the Division II era, an Ohio Dominican Panther has been named a nominee for the 2023 Harlon Hill Trophy as the Division II College Football Player of the Year.

The G-MAC Co-Player of the Year, Eddie Miller-Garrett (Newark, New Jersey) was one of 38 student-athletes named as a nominee for the D2 equivalent of the Heisman Trophy. He was one of ten to be named out of the Super Region 1 group, where ODU resides. 

After EMG was First Team All-Conference and the best player in the league. Miller-Garrett made 60 tackles (4th on the team), 23.0 tackles for loss, 10.5 sacks, two forced fumbles, one fumble recovery and 17 QB hurries. He led the G-MAC with TFL and sacks (7.5 TFL ahead of 2nd and 2.0 sacks ahead of 2nd) and finished as the ODU single-season leader for tackles for loss and sacks. Along with ODU, Miller-Garrett was the single-season TFL leader in the G-MAC. Over the course of the season, he had nine games of at least 2.0 TFL and two with at least 3.0 TFL along with four multi-sack contests. His season-high was 3.5 tackles for loss at Findlay and 2.5 sacks on the road at Kentucky Wesleyan. Lastly, EMG led all Division II players with TFL (3rd across the NCAA) and tied for 8th in Division II for total sacks at the end of the regular season. 

Across the region (SR1), Miller-Garrett was 2nd in sacks and 3rd in tackles for loss. Miller-Garrett was a Gene Upshaw Award finalist for Super Region 1 as well as the top senior lineman in the country. 

He ended his career at Ohio Dominican as the career leader in tackles for loss (52.0) and second in sacks (24.5). In Division II, he was tied for second in active career leaders for tackles for loss and tied for seventh in sacks. Across all divisions (FBS, FCS, D2, D3), he was tied for 11th in career TFL.
