COLUMBUS, Ohio - For the second straight year, the Ohio Dominican Panthers football team took to the weight room for a chance to raise money for the program. 80 football student-athletes competed in the 2nd annual Ironman Lift-A-Thon in the Student Recreational Center on Friday, March 6th. In total, a grand total of $21,837 was raised by the student-athletes, equating to $0.27 for every pound lifted that morning.
The team was divided via weight classes (Super Heavyweight, Heavyweight, Cruiserweight, Middleweight, and Flyweight) for competition in various lifts such as bench press, squat, power clean, and overhead press. Awards were given out for the top lifter in each weight class, position group, and the overall Iron Panther Award. This award is given to the strongest lifter on the team.
