FINDLAY, Ohio - The Ohio Dominican Panthers women's golf team opened the month of October with an appearance at the William Beall Fall Classic, hosted by the University of Findlay at the Findlay Country Club on Monday (Oct. 2) and Tuesday (Oct. 3).
The Panthers ended the 54-hole event in a ninth place tie, after shooting a program-best 943. Ohio Dominican shot 306 in the first round with a 314 in the second round on Monday. In Tuesday's final round, ODU shot 323. The first round was tied for the 2nd lowest team round in program history.
Sophomore
Caroline Tragesser (Murrysville, Pennsylvania) led the Panthers with a total of 227 (+11) for the three-round event. Tragesser was tied for 14th place with individual rounds of 78, 74 and 75. Tragesser's total of 227 was tied for the second-lowest 54-hole score and set a career-best. She led the Panthers with 34 pars and was second with five birdies.
Senior
Abbey Dillon (Bolivar, Ohio) and sophomore
Sydney Devore (New Philadelphia, Ohio) were tied for 27th place with a total of 232 (+16). Dillon shot the second-lowest round in the program and career-low (71) in round one before shooting 78 and 83 in rounds two and three. Dillon led the team with six birdies in the tournament and made 32 pars. Devore, like Tragesser, tallied a round of 74 in the event. She added two rounds of 79 to end the event. She had four birdies and 31 pars.
Junior
Ana Reed (Denton, Texas) doubled up on rounds of 83 on the first day and shot 86 on Tuesday for a 54-hole total of 252. She finished with 24 pars.
Sophomore
Meg Saffell (Somerset, Ohio) and junior
Ellyn Deibel (Lancaster, Ohio) ended up in a tie with identical scores of 261, both career-lows fof 54 holes. Saffell, with 19 pars and three birdies, started the tournament with respective rounds of 84 and 88 before shooting 89 in the final round. Deibel, competing as an individual, improved by nine strokes over the course of the event. She shot 91 and 88 in the first day and scored 82 in the last round. Deibel turned in 20 pars and one birdie.
Ohio Dominican will head to travel to Erie, Pennsylvania this weekend to compete in the Gannon Michael Corbett Fall Classic. Play from Whispering Woods Golf Course will commence on Sunday (Oct. 8) and continue on Monday (Oct. 9).
