Panthers and #16 Greyhounds Set For Sunbury Road Rematch

COLUMBUS, Ohio - Reaching the middle leg of the current homestand for the Ohio Dominican Panthers football team brings a tough opponent to Sunbury Road. The Panthers will play host to the #16 ranked University of Indianapolis Greyhounds on Saturday (Sept. 24) at 1:00 PM as a part of the GLVC/G-MAC scheduling alliance. 

GAME DAY INFORMATION

OPENING KICKOFF

  • Ohio Dominican continues the three-week homestand with the second week of the GLVC/G-MAC Crossover. 
  • In a rematch of last year's highly competitive ODU upset of #19 UIndy on the road, the Panthers and #16/24 Greyhounds will battle at Panther Stadium. 
  • ODU scored 14 points in the first quarter and led 21-0 at halftime over the William Jewell Cardinals last week. The Panthers outlasted the Cardinals 31-21, improving to 2-1 on the season. 
  • Jake Byrd (Fort Wayne, Indiana) threw for three touchdowns and scored a rushing TD of his own for a four touchdown day.  He was 22-of-32 for 187 yards. 
  • W.R. Sanders Jr. (Gary, Indiana) led the Panthers rushers with 75 yards as he leads ODU this season. 
  • Austin Davis (Wooster, Ohio) caught ten passes for 78 yards while Ty Wiley (Pickerington, Ohio) caught four passes for 62 yards and two touchdowns. Andrew Wolf (Ashland, Ohio) added a 4-yard TD catch from Byrd. 
  • Michael Powers (West Mansfield, Ohio) led the Panthers with ten tackles, including a sack. 
  • Eddie Miller-Garrett (Newark, NJ) had 1.5 sacks and tackles for loss in the contest. Qwyn Williams (Gahanna, Ohio) and CeAyre Hall (Cincinnati, Ohio) added to ODU's sack total with a sack each. 

DID YOU KNOW?

  • Ohio Dominican is the only 3-0 team in the GLVC/G-MAC scheduling alliance, defeating William Jewell twice and UIndy last season. 

NUMBERS TO KNOW

  • 4 - ODU picked off William Jewell four times last week, the fifth time in program history that the Panthers have done it.  
  • 5 - Ohio Dominican have tallied five sacks in two of the three games this season.
  • 22.5 - Jaylin Garner (Shaker Heights, Ohio) is currently tied for the career mark in sacks, tying Di'Andre Harrison. 
  • 42 - Andrew Wolf (Ashland, Ohio) leads all active NCAA receivers with 42 touchdowns in his career. 

INDIANAPOLIS AT A GLANCE

  • The University of Indianapolis enters play with a 2-0 record following a 27-20 nailbiting win over the Tiffin Dragons last week. 
  • The Greyhounds scored two touchdowns in the final six seconds and outscored the Dragons 20-0 in the final nine minutes of the game. Connor Kinnett had two touchdowns in the final quarter, a 30-yard TD to Kamau Ransom, and a 12-yard TD pass to Frank Bentley with six seconds left. KJ Roudebash recovered a fumble on the last lateral play to seal the win for UIndy.
  • Head coach Chris Keevers is in his fourth season at the helm of the Greyhounds and his 29th year on staff with UIndy. Keevers is 21-6 overall and 13-3 in GLVC play since taking over in the 2019 season. 
  • In the 2022 GLVC Preseason Poll, UIndy was ranked first by the head coaches after finishing second to Lindenwood in the 2021 GLVC standings. 
  • In the season opener, UIndy demolished Saint Xavier 57-0 behind 447 yards of total offense. 
  • In the latest AFCA Top 25 poll, Indianapolis is ranked #16 and #24 in the D2 Football Top 25. The Greyhounds were receiving votes in the preseason poll. They have gone from 25th to 19th and to the current spot of 16th. 
  • Indianapolis had two GLVC Players of the Week after the win at Tiffin. Connor Kinnett was Offensive Player of the Week while Jeremiah Lee was Special Teams Player of the Week.  
  • Quarterback Connor Kinnett tallied 190 passing yards, three touchdowns (two in the final nine minutes) on 13 completions while setting the school record for QB rushing yards with 128 yards. Kinnett has 372 passing yards on 28-of-64 passing in two games. The sophomore has six touchdowns and no interceptions. He also sits second in rushing with 143 yards on 14 attempts.
  • Toriano Clinton is nearing a program best for career rushing yards as he sits 41 yards away from hitting the top mark (3,809 - Klay Fiechter). Clinton has rushed for 232 yards on 30 attempts in two games with one rushing touchdown. Clinton leads all active Division II players with 3,688 career rushing yards and he sits fourth among all NCAA players. 
  • Alonzo Derrick has the most catches for UIndy with seven catches for 91 yards. Jeremiah Lee has caught five passes for 47 yards and one touchdown. Kamau Ransom leads the receivers with three passing touchdowns while Frank Bentley has two of them. 
  • Lee started the game against Tiffin with a 98-yard kickoff return touchdown, the second of his career and third longest in UIndy history. He was awarded Special Teams Player of the Week for his efforts. 
  • Colin Seymour is only two-of-five on field goals with a long of 36 yards but is perfect in extra point situations (10-for-10).
  • Kivonte Houston has a team-high 14 tackles to go with a 41-yard fumble return. Houston had ten tackles against Tiffin last week. 
  • Brandon Smith leads the defense with 3.5 tackles for loss while Khoreice Crawford has two picks for the Greyhounds defense.

  • Ohio Dominican will host the Walsh Cavaliers for Homecoming Weekend next Saturday (October 1) at 1:00 PM.
