Box Score ASHLAND, Ohio -- Jordan Daniels (Blacklick, Ohio) collected two hits and Scott Rouse (Hinckley, Ohio) struck out seven batters, but it was not enough in Ohio Dominican baseball's series finale versus Walsh, as the Panthers fell 5-3 on Wednesday afternoon.
A Great Midwest series that was going on nearly two weeks due to weather postponements, finally concluded with a neutral site game, played at Ashland University. With Wednesday's result, ODU and Walsh split their four-game set this spring. The Panthers fall to 13-23 overall, 6-14 in the G-MAC, while the Cavs improve to 17-14 (9-9 G-MAC).
Daniels has appeared at the top of the lineup in four of the past five games, going 6-for-14 (.429), including four extra-base hits. After three hitless innings by both sides, Daniels double sparked a Panther rally in the top of the fourth inning. The freshman scored the first run of the game on a base hit from Jake Daniel (Troy, Ohio).
Walsh though, led 3-2 after four complete. Michael McFadden (Brunswick, Ohio) drove in Michael Knapp (Elyria, Ohio) with a single to left field.
An infield single from Daniels tied the game at 3-all in the top of the fifth, but the Cavs scored twice on four hits in the sixth inning to claim the 5-3 advantage. ODU was hitless over the final three frames, and held to just one baserunner, falling by two runs.
Rouse started and went 6.0 innings on the mound, conceding five runs, four earned. Lane Marshall (Wooster, Ohio) and Max Whitesell (Dayton, Ohio) tossed scoreless innings in relief.
