Box Score 2 HARROGATE, Tenn – The Ohio Dominican softball team resumed its season on Saturday competing against Davenport University and #13 Lincoln Memorial. ODU earned a split of the proceedings on Saturday, claiming a 15-5 victory over Davenport in six innings before falling 7-1 to the Railsplitters.
GAME ONE
The Black and Gold struck early in the first inning as Braxton Downs (Louisville, Kentucky) clubbed her first home run of the season, driving in one run. Baylee Adams (Cardington, Ohio) added another run as her single to left field drove in another run to give the Panthers a 3-0.
Davenport answered with a four-run third inning and jumped out from to a 4-3 lead.
Downs collected another one of her five RBIs as a ground out to first base drove in Madison Shemwell (Owensboro, Kentucky) to tie the game at 4-4. Alexis Stevens (Marion, Ohio) collected her first triple of the season, driving in Alison Madden (Cincinnati, Ohio) to grow the lead to 5-4. ODU added another run to take a 6-4 advantage into the fifth inning.
The Black and Gold scored six runs in the fifth inning and three in the sixth to carry them to the victory against DU.
GAME TWO
ODU faced off against the host Railsplitters in game two. LMU jumped out to a 4-0 advantage before a sacrifice fly from Erika Case (Holland, Ohio) drove in Stevens to score the Panthers only run of the contest. Lincoln Memorial added another three runs lifting them to a 7-1 victory.
UP NEXT
The Panthers return to action tomorrow afternoon facing Maryville University before engaging in a rematch with Davenport. The action begins at 12:00 PM.
