Box Score CHARLESTON, W.VA – The Ohio Dominican men's soccer team hit the road for the final time in the 2021 spring campaign, traveling to Charleston, West Virginia, to battle No.13 Ohio Valley University on Wednesday afternoon.
The Panthers made the trip south riding a three-game unbeaten streak and in good form. The Black and Gold found themselves trailing just 90 seconds into the contest as OVU forward Luiz Neto tallied the opening goal to give the hosts a 1-0 advantage.
ODU went to its bench and brought on junior Carter Patchett (Dublin, Ohio) and Shingai Nindi (Shanghai, China) for a spark. It yielded results as the Black and Gold pinned the Fighting Scots defense on its heels. Nindi harassed the opposing backline and opened up numerous opportunities for the Panther forwards to launch shots on target.
The hosts would extend their lead shortly before halftime to 2-0 as they scored in the 37th minute.
ODU emerged out of the locker room refocused in the second half and forward Jaxson Szabo (Worthington, Ohio) spearheaded the visiting attack. The Panther captain forced two quick saves from the OVU goalkeeper Santiago Rojas.
Both teams traded shots through the second half but unfortunately, the Black and Gold couldn't mount and come back and would fall to OVU by the score of 2-0.
