Panthers Strong Season Season Concludes In G-MAC Semifinal Against No.3 OVU

Box Score

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Making their first appearance in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference semifinal, Ohio Dominican men's soccer battled No.3 ranked Ohio Valley University on Friday afternoon inside of Panther Stadium.

After falling behind 1-0 in the 20th minute, the Black and Gold answered with back-to-back goals courtesy of Nuno Lopez (Foz, Spain). The Panther junior converted his free-kick opportunity from just outside of the box and into the right-hand corner to level the game a 1-1.

Seven minutes later senior River Allbaugh (Pickerington, Ohio) added another goal as he scored off an opportunity from freshman midfielder Griffin Cook (Whitehouse, Ohio) to establish a 2-1 lead heading into halftime.

The Black and Gold finished the first half with a 6-4 advantage in shots. The Fighting Scots would unleash nine shots in the second half and despite that effort, enjoyed just a 13-11 lead in shots for the match.

Ohio Valley would recapture the lead in the second half and carry it across the finish line to claim a 5-2 win and punch their ticket into the men's soccer final on Sunday afternoon.

A SEASON TO REMEMBER

With the season coming to its conclusion on Friday afternoon, the Panthers have enjoyed one of the best seasons in program history. ODU's 5-5-2 record gives the program its best winning percentage since joining the G-MAC in 2017 and best since the 2013 season.
