NASHVILLE, Tennessee – Ohio Dominican softball hit the road for the final time in the 2021 regular season, traveling to the Music City to battle Trevecca Nazarene University for a Monday matinee. The Black and Gold fell 3-2 in game one and 6-2 in game two.

Trevecca opened the scoring in the bottom of the first inning as a fielder's choice drove in the opening run. Designated Player Erika Case (Holland, Ohio) collected her first career home run when she blasted a ball over the left-field fence to tie the game at 1-1.

The next half-inning the Trojans jumped ahead once more thanks to an RBI single from Carly Sperlich.

Senior Carson Hackerd (Frankfort, Indiana) once again tied the game at 2-2 by driving an RBI single to center field. TNU walked off with the victory in the bottom of the seventh with an RBI single of its own to claim the 3-2 win.

The Trojans opened game two with a five-run third inning to jump out to a quick lead. The advantage would extend to 6-0 in the bottom of the sixth. ODU cut the lead to four runs when Braxton Downs (Prospect, Kentucky) hit her 10^th home run of the season.

Unfortunately, the Black and Gold could not continue the comeback run and fell by the score of 6-2.

UP NEXT

The Panthers return home for the final homestand of the regular season. ODU welcomes GLVC rival University of Indianapolis to campus for a Wednesday matinee. The doubleheader begins with first pitch scheduled for 2 PM.
