Panthers Split Series Against Tiffin Saturday Afternoon

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

TIFFIN, Ohio – The Ohio Dominican softball team traveled to Northwest Ohio to open the 2021 conference schedule against Tiffin University on Saturday afternoon. The Black and Gold split the afternoon series-winning game one 4-0 in nine innings and falling by the score of 6-0 in game two.

Junior Sydney Long (Ashland, Ohio) pitched another gem, giving her team nine solid innings and striking out seven batters to earn the complete-game shutout.

The Panthers waited until late into the contest to do their damage offensively. Senior Carson Hackerd (Frankfort, Indiana) opened the scoring as her double to left field drove home a Black and Gold runner. She didn't have to wait on basepaths long as teammate Alexis Stevens (Marion, Ohio) drove her in after she drove an RBI single to center field.

Sophomore Braxton Downs (Prospect, Kentucky) put a punctuation mark on the inning, showcasing her power as she hit a home run to center field. The bomb drove home Stevens and gave the Panthers the victory.

The Dragons got their revenge in game two, scoring in three different innings to claim a 6-0 victory.

UP NEXT
The Black and Gold continue their road trip across Northwest Ohio, traveling to Findlay, Ohio, to battle the University of Findlay on Sunday afternoon. The first pitch from Findlay is scheduled for 1 PM.
