Box Score 2 NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Ohio Dominican baseball team dropped both halves of its road doubleheader at Trevecca Nazarene Friday, falling 4-3 and 4-2.
ODU, dropping two games in the same day for the first time this spring, falls to 10-4 overall and 2-4 in Great Midwest play. Trevecca has now won six of its last seven games, improving to 10-3 overall and 6-0 in the G-MAC.
GAME ONE SUMMARY
- ODU outhit the TNU in Game One, 8-7, and walked 10 times, but left 13 runners stranded over nine innings of play.
- Junior Thomas Staab (Bellville, Ohio) was the lone Panther with multiple hits in the game, going 2-for-5 with one stolen base in the leadoff spot.
- The Panthers got off to a fast start, scoring in the top of the first inning. Graduate senior Roger Danison (Carroll, Ohio) had a two-out base hit and later scored on a passed ball.
- Freshman Scott Rouse (Hinckley, Ohio) allowed two hits through five innings, fanning six over the stretch as ODU still led 1-0.
- TNU then did most of its offensive damage in the bottom of the sixth, scoring three times.
- Trailing by two runs in the ninth, sophomore Alex Brill (Amherst, Ohio) launched a two-run home run to left field to tie the game at 3-3.
- The long ball was the second of the season for Brill.
- The Trojans loaded the bases with just one out in the bottom half of the frame and a single to left field walked TNU off with the 4-3 win.
GAME TWO SUMMARY
- Trevecca scored the first four runs of the night cap, leading 4-0 through six complete innings.
- Down to its last at-bat, ODU saw four of its first five batters reach in the top of the seventh inning. Sophomore David Silva (Tontogany, Ohio) and graduate senior Jace Komminsk Westerville, Ohio), who opened the inning with a single and walk respectively, each scored in the frame.
- Freshmen Michael McFadden (Brunswick, Ohio) and Lane Marshall (Wooster, Ohio) each drove in one run in the seventh, but a fly out and line out ended the scoring threat at just two Panther runs.
- McFadden and Silva each registered two hits in the second half of the twin bill, combining for four of ODU's five hits.
- Freshman Michael Lesiecki (Uhrichsville, Ohio) struck out four batters over five innings of work.
UP NEXT
- ODU and TNU will close out their four-game conference set with another doubleheader on Saturday, March 27. First pitch is scheduled for noon (CDT).
