Box Score HILLSDALE, Mich. – Ohio Dominican and Hillsdale combine for 32 runs and 30 hits in Friday afternoon's Great Midwest baseball opener, as the Chargers topped the Panthers 18-14.
The loss snaps ODU's season-opening, eight-game win streak, dropping the Panthers to 8-1 overall and 0-1 in the G-MAC. Hillsdale improves to 5-4 overall (1-0 G-MAC).
BOX SCORE NOTES
- Graduate senior Roger Danison (Carroll, Ohio) accounted for 33 percent of ODU's hit total (15), going a perfect 5-for-5 with five RBI and five runs scored. Danison also launched two home runs and added a double.
- ODU's Nos. 3-6 hitters in the lineup all had multiple hits, combining to go 11-for-17 at the plate.
- Graduate senior Jace Komminsk (Westerville, Ohio) tallied two hits and four RBI.
- Sophomores Alex Brill (Amherst, Ohio) and David Silva (Tontogany, Ohio) each logged multiple hits, with Silva also stealing two bases. Brill pitched in three runs and three RBI as well.
- Brill and Komminsk joined Danison with home runs, giving the Panthers four long balls in the game.
- Eight different Panther batters registered a hit in the contest.
- ODU has now scored double-digit runs in six-of-nine games this season, with 14 runs on Friday tying a season high.
- Prior to Friday's contest, the most runs ODU had conceded this season was six.
MOMENTS THAT MATTERED
- The Panthers jumped out to a 5-2 lead after four complete. Danison and Brill each homered during the opening-inning run.
- Leading 5-4, Ohio Dominican conceded a combined 13 runs over the sixth and seventh frames to fall into a deficit for the first time in the game.
- Despite scoring nine runs over the final three innings, Ohio Dominican could not recover, falling 18-14.
- A three-run seventh inning was highlighted by a RBI triple from Brill and two-run home run from Komminsk to left center field.
- Danison added his second long ball in the eighth inning and Komminsk drove in two additional runs in the frame with a one-out base hit.
- Needing six runs in the ninth inning, ODU's two-out rally only resulted in two scores. Both Danison and Silva drove in runs.

- Ohio Dominican and Hillsdale will continue their four-game weekend series with a single nine-inning game on Saturday, March 13.
