COLUMBUS, Ohio – After a successful four-game road stint, the Ohio Dominican football team returns home to Sunbury Road and the friendly confines of Panther Stadium for a home date with Great Midwest rival Findlay.
The Panthers, winners of five straight, will face Findlay in a battle of G-MAC unbeaten teams at noon, Saturday, Oct. 16.
OPENING KICKOFF
- Saturday will mark ODU's first home game since Week Two, a 10-7 win over Virginia State on Sept. 11.
- The Panthers have won five straight games, including an unblemished 4-0 record on their recent month-long road stretch.
- ODU is coming off a 34-24 win at Ashland last week, outscoring the Eagles 17-3 in the fourth quarter.
- Dauson Dales (Defiance, Ohio) recorded 19 tackles in the win, one shy of tying a school record of 20 stops, set by Mark Markakis in 2010 against Findlay.
- Evan Ernst (Mason, Ohio) accounted for three total scores, giving him three-plus touchdowns in three of the past four games.
- Against Ashland, Eddie Miller-Garrett (Newark, N.J.) registered seven tackles, including two sacks, as well as a forced fumble that resulted in Jaylin Garner (Shaker Heights, Ohio) finding the end zone on a five-yard scoop-and-score in the closing seconds.
- ODU enters play Saturday having scored 30 or more points in four games this fall.
DID YOU KNOW?
- Jed Quackenbush (Newark, Ohio) has multiple field goal makes in three-of-six games this fall, including two makes last week at Ashland.
- Quackenbush is 9-for-13 in field goal attempts this fall, which places him seventh for single season makes in school history.
NUMBERS TO KNOW
- 5: ODU has won five of six games to start a season for the first time since 2018.
- 7: ODU has won seven straight games against Findlay. The Panthers are 8-1 all-time against the Oilers.
- 9: Nine of ODU's last 10 games have been decided by 10 points or less. ODU's average final margin this fall is 5.5 points per game.
- 11: Under head coach Kelly Cummings, ODU is plus-11 in turnover margin (17-6) against Findlay.
FINDLAY AT-A-GLANCE
- Since dropping the season opener to top-five nationally ranked Ferris State, the Oilers have won four of their past five games to enter Saturday, 4-2 overall.
- Findlay has scored over 30 points in G-MAC wins over Lake Erie and Ky. Wesleyan the past two weeks.
- The Oilers are 2-1 on the road this fall, including 62-41 and 37-10 wins over Southwest Baptist and Lake Erie, respectively.
- For the second straight week, ODU will face a top 20 offense in Division II, as UF is averaging 464.2 yards of offense per game.
- The Oilers rank second in the G-MAC in scoring offense, 32.3 points per game.
- Defensively, Findlay is allowing 30.0 points and 449.5 yards per game, both ranking in the bottom third of the conference.
- Findlay is one of the most disciplined teams in the country, as their 3.5 penalties and 33.3 penalty yards per game are both top 10 in Division II.
