Baseball Falls to #4/6 Catawba

WILSON, N.C. – The Ohio Dominican baseball team continued its spring break trip Tuesday, March 10, falling to #4/6 Catawba (N.C.), 17-0.

The Panthers conceded 13 runs over the first three innings before the game went into a short rain delay. The nationally-ranked Indians (18-3) tacked on four more runs over the fifth and sixth innings to win the shortened contest.

Senior Joey Machuga (Canfield, Ohio) collected two of ODU's five hits in the game. Freshman David Silva (Tontogany, Ohio) went 1-for-3, recording the Panthers' lone extra-base hit, a double to lead off the seventh inning. Highlighting the pitching for ODU was senior Brennan Hatten (Fairfield, Ohio), who tossed a scoreless fourth frame.

The Panthers will conclude their trip with a total of four Great Midwest Athletic Conference games against Trevecca Nazarene on Thursday and Friday, March 12 and 13. The conference-opening series is set for a 1:30 p.m. start on Thursday.
