HARROGATE, Tenn. – Grand Valley State scored six runs over the last two innings Sunday afternoon at Lincoln Memorial University, securing the come-from-behind win over Ohio Dominican's baseball team, 7-3.

The Panthers (1-5) scored the first run of the game, as graduate senior Cory Contini (Dover, Ohio) drove in his first run of the season with a single to left field in the bottom of the third. Sophomore Thomas Staab (Bellville, Ohio) scored the first ODU run after walking earlier in the frame.

After the Lakers (2-1) tied the score in the top of the fourth, sophomore Michael Lang (Cincinnati, Ohio) hit a one-out double in the bottom of the inning, and later scored on a GVSU error. Neither team could scratch across any runs over the next three innings, keeping ODU's 2-1 lead in tact heading into the eighth frame.

Grand Valley then recorded four runs in the eighth for its first lead of the game, and then two more insurance runs in the ninth to capture a 7-2 advantage. The Lakers had six of their 13 hits in the final two innings.

ODU's final run came in the bottom of the ninth, as junior Tim Zeller (Mount Vernon, Ohio) posted a double down the left field line, which scored Lang.

Lang led ODU at the plate, going 3-for-4 with two runs scored. Contini added multiple hits as well. On the mound, senior Clay Davies (Massillon, Ohio) earned the start, going 5.0 innings, allowing six hits and one earned run. Freshman Alex Brill (Amherst, Ohio) registered the loss, but did strike out four batters over 2.2 innings of work.

The Panthers will return to action on Saturday, Feb. 29, with a 1 p.m. doubleheader against Kutztown, in Chillicothe, Ohio.
