Men's Soccer Defeated in Home Opener

Box Score

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Ohio Dominican's men's soccer team dropped a nonconference contest with Mercyhurst by a final score of 2-1 Sunday in the home-opener at Panther Stadium.

ODU drops to 0-2 while Mercyhurst advances to 1-0-1 on the early season.

After Mercyhurst scored to go up 1-0 in the 4th minute, the Panthers were able to answer to tie the game at 1-1 just before going into halftime.

Freshman Khalif Hassan (Columbus, Ohio) scored the lone goal for the Panthers in the 43rd minute off an assist from River Allbaugh (Pickerington, Ohio). The goal marked the first of Hassan's career and first on the year for the Panther offense.

Mercyhurst would score the would-be game-winner in the 50th minute but would feel more pressure from the Panthers late in the half as ODU had four shots in that second half.

Junior goalkeeper Ian Crook (Cincinnati, Ohio) drops to 0-2 on the year as he made seven total saves, four in the first half while helping lead the defense on 11 corner kicks.

The Panthers will stay at home as they host Seton Hill Thursday, September 12 at 5 p.m. at Panther Stadium.
