Softball Sweeps Hillsdale Capped Off With Comeback Win in Game Two

HILLSDALE, Michigan – A four run seventh inning in game two capped a sweep for Ohio Dominican's softball team as they won game one 8-4 before hanging on to win game two 7-6 Saturday afternoon.

Kelly Mix (Baltimore, Ohio) got the scoring started with a double that scored Aubrey Rolon (Hilliard, Ohio) and was followed up with a Cameron Barber single that scored Mix to give the Panthers a 5-4 lead. Brooklyn Rayburn's (Reynoldsburg, Ohio) second two-run homerun of the day capped the big inning for the Panthers and Sydney Long stranded the bases loaded to earn the save.

Bales got the Panthers on the board in the first with a solo home run and Landry Slider (Stow, Ohio) doubled to right center in the third to double the Panther lead. Hillsdale would then score four runs in the third to take a 4-2 lead until Taylor Farmer (Mt. Blanchard, Ohio) struck her fourth home run of the year to pull the Panthers to within one at 4-3 in the sixth.

In game one, the Panthers had a pair of three run innings to grab and maintain the lead to earn the win.

ODU jumped on the board in the first with a pair of runs as Barber singled to left center field that scored Hackerd and Kristen Bales (Pickerington, Ohio). Hillsdale would tie the game in the second before taking a 3-2 lead in the third inning.

ODU would regain the lead in the fourth as Mix stole home to tie the game and Rayburn homered to left center to bring around Farmer putting the Panthers up 5-3. Hillsdale would get a run back in the fourth to come within one before Mix put the game away with a three run home run in the fifth.

Sydney Long (Ashland, Ohio) got the win in the circle throwing 3.1 giving up six hits and four runs. Senior Abby Lamping (Cleves, Ohio) threw the final 3.2 giving up just two hits and one walk while not allowing a run.

Rayburn blasted two two-run home runs, one in each game, to lead the Panther offense on the afternoon. Carson Hackerd (Frankfort, Indiana) had four hits on the afternoon which was matched by Mix and Cameron Barber (Powell, Ohio). Mix had four total RBI's and two extra base hits while Barber had three RBI's on four singles.

ODU (15-13, 6-0) heads to Tiffin Sunday afternoon with games set for 12 p.m. and 2 p.m.
