Softball Drops Doubleheader Contests To Saginaw Valley

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2

COLUMBUS, Ohio — Ohio Dominican's softball team fell in doubleheader GLIAC contests to Saginaw Valley by final scores of 7-3 and 8-1 on Saturday at Panther Field.

The Panthers (16-16, 3-3 GLIAC) will face Northwood on Sunday in a GLIAC doubleheader at 12 p.m. while also celebrating Friends of Jaclyn Day at Panther Field.

In game one, the Panthers scored three runs on four hits. Senior Kelly Wallace (Oshkosh, Wisconsin) recorded her third home run of the season and takes a 10-game hitting streak into Sunday's contests with Northwood. Junior Liz Sutter (Mansfield, Ohio) went 2-for-3, and junior Taylor Kline (Bellville, Ohio) finished with one hit for the Panthers.

Trailing 4-0 in the bottom of the fifth, Wallace crushed a solo home run to left center field to cut ODU's deficit to 4-1. But the Cardinals would score three in the top of the seventh and hold off a late rally by the Panthers in the bottom of the inning, winning 7-3.

In game two, Saginaw Valley defeated ODU by a final score of 8-1. ODU recorded eight hits in the contest, led by Kline, who went 3-for-4 while also stealing two bases, her 18th and 19th stolen bases of the season.

ODU will look to get back in the win column on Sunday when it hosts Northwood for Friends of Jaclyn Day at Panther Field, beginning at 12 p.m.
