MOUNT VERNON, Ohio — Ohio Dominican's men's golf team shot a two-round total score of 597 (300-297) to finish third out of seven competing teams at the Mount Vernon Nazarene Cougar Classic at Chapel Hill Golf Course on Saturday.
Four ODU golfers finished in a tie for sixth overall. Seniors Austin Goodridge (Lima, Ohio), Marshall Stretch (Liberty Township, Ohio), Eric Thompson (Miamisburg, Ohio) and sophomore Drew Wayman (Wapakoneta, Ohio) each shot a 148 and finished in a tie for sixth out of 43 competitors. Goodridge used scores of 75-73 to record a 148, while Stretch shot a 72-76 en route to a 148. Stretch's round one score of 72 is a career-low. Wayman used rounds of 74-74 to finish with a 148, while Thompson scored rounds of 75-73.
Junior Ryan Thompson (Dunfermline, Scotland) shot a 154 (80-74) to finish in a tie for 23rd. Junior Mark Creamer (Saratoga, California) also recorded a 154, shooting round scores of 79-75. Creamer's round two score of 75 tied a career-low. Freshman Blake Saffell (Somerset, Ohio) finished 26th with a 155 (79-76), also tying a career-low with a round two score of 76.
ODU will hit the course for competition again next weekend, Saturday, April 8 and Sunday, April 9 for the Ted Barclay Memorial Classic at the Granville Golf Club.
