COLUMBUS, Ohio – Behind strong starting pitching efforts from Matt Kittelberger (Massillon, Ohio) and Garret Sendelbach (Tiffin, Ohio), Ohio Dominican's baseball team swept visiting Saginaw Valley by scored of 4-3 and 8-2 Friday afternoon in Panther Valley.

The Panthers took a 2-1 lead in the second inning of the first game. Colin Kaucher (Toledo, Ohio) hit an RBI double in the first inning and Jonathan Conkle Massillon, Ohio) scored on a grounder in the second frame.

SVSU scored twice in the fourth inning to go in front 3-2, but the Panthers answered in the sixth. Later in the inning, Tony Evans (Medway, Ohio) singled to left field to bring home Burson and put the Panthers on top 4-3.

The Cardinals put two on with one out in the seventh, but Derek Thobe (Coldwater, Ohio) induced a double play grounder to end the contest and earn the save.

Kaucher went 2-for-4 at the dish as both teams finished with eight hits.

In game two, SVSU scored in the first inning, but the Panthers took control from there. Sponseller hit a three-run shot in the second inning, and an RBI grounder by Max Banke (Oakwood, Ohio) and an RBI single from Evans put ODU on top 5-1 in the fourth inning.

Justin Childers (Pickerington, Ohio) tripled to start the fifth inning and scored on a wild pitch, and Banke's sac fly and Evans' RBI double in the eighth capped the scoring.

The Panthers finished with 12 hits, as Evans and Conkle each had three hits. Burson also had a pair of hits to pace the Panthers.

ODU and SVSU will conclude their four game series with a doubleheader beginning at noon on Saturday in Panther Valley.
