Men's Golf Tallies 11th Place Finish Out Of 21 Teams At SVSU Spring Invitational

GEORGETOWN, Ky. — With a two-round score of 611, Ohio Dominican's men's golf team recorded an 11th place finish out of 21 competing teams at the Saginaw Valley State University Spring Invitational at the Cherry Blossom Golf Course on Sunday.

ODU saw three golfers finish in the top 34 of the field, including junior Ryan Thompson (Dunfermline, Scotland), who led the squad with a two-round score of 152 (77-75) to finish in a tie for 28th out of 130 golfers and +8 relative to par. Thompson finished in a tie for ninth out of 85 players in ODU's first tournament of the spring, the TaylorMade-adidas Collegiate. Thompson boasts a winning percentage of .839 in his first two tournaments of the spring season.

Freshman Blake Saffell (Somerset, Ohio) and sophomore Drew Wayman (Wapakoneta, Ohio) finished in a tie for 34th. Saffell shot a 153 (76-77), leading the Panthers in the first round with a 76, while Wayman also recorded a 153 (78-75), co-leading the team in round two with a 75. Senior Austin Goodridge (Lima, Ohio) shot a 156 (78-78) to finish +12 relative to par coming off an eighth-place performance out of 85 golfers at the TaylorMade-adidas Collegiate last week.

Ohio Dominican will compete in the GLIAC South Invitational on Monday, March 27 and Tuesday March 28 at the Andover Golf and Country Club in Lexington, Kentucky in its next tournament of the spring.
