CLERMONT, Fla. — Ohio Dominican's softball team scored a 2-1 win in eight innings against Stonehill in the Panthers' second game of the day at the NTC Spring Games.

Trailing 1-0 in the sixth inning, junior Casey Murdoch (Morrow, OH) doubled to right field, scoring sophomore Liz Sutter (Mansfield, OH) to tie the game at 1-1.

In the top of the eighth, Sutter recorded a sac fly, scoring freshman Maria Simmonds (Columbus, OH) scored from third to take a decisive, 2-1 lead.

Freshman Abby Lamping (Cleves, OH) closed the game in the eighth, recording her third complete game while surrendering just one run on five hits and four strikeouts.

Sophomore Taylor Kline (Bellville, OH) went two-for-three, marking the fifth game Kline has finished with two or more hits in a game this season. Murdoch and Sutter each recorded one hit and one RBI.

The Panthers dropped game one of the day, 5-3 to Southern Indiana, in the two teams' third meeting of the season.

Southern Indiana (11-5) scored the first five runs of the game and held a 5-0 advantage going into the seventh inning. In the bottom of the seventh, freshman Anna Shroyer (Pataskala, OH) doubled to begin the inning. After a single by Sutter and an error by the third baseman, Shroyer scored from third to get the Panthers on the board, 5-1.

With runners on first and third, senior Julia Suyak (Trenton, MI) singled to send Sutter home and then in the next at bat, Murdoch singled to score Kline from second to bring the score to just 5-3.

But the Panthers could not inch closer, recording outs on three of their next four at bats, falling 5-3. Ohio Dominican recorded 10 hits in the game and its 34 at bats in the game are a season high.

Ohio Dominican takes on Northern State at 5 p.m. and Nyack at 7 p.m. on Monday.
