Box Score 2 COLUMBUS, Ohio – A big scoring inning in each game by visiting Indianapolis proved too much for Ohio Dominican's softball team to overcome as the Panthers fell to the No. 2 Greyhounds 9-3 and 6-1 Wednesday afternoon at Panther Field.
In the opener, UIndy used a six-run third inning to take control. In the second game, the Greyhounds broke free with a three-run sixth inning to pull away.
With the setbacks, ODU fell to 13-13, while UIndy improved to 25-0.
The Panthers fell behind 9-0 in the first game but scored three times on four hits in their half of the sixth. Sophomore Taylor Kline (Bellville, Ohio) drew a bases loaded walk, junior Casey Murdoch (Morrow, Ohio) had an RBI single and senior Kelsey Albanese (Westerville, Ohio) drove in a run on a fielder's choice grounder.
The Panthers managed just two other hits outside of that inning, though, as the Greyhounds took the opener.
Senior Montana Fishel (Gahanna, Ohio) had a pair of hits and Kline also reached base twice in the first game.
In the second game, ODU fell behind 3-0 in the fifth before responding with a two-out run as Fishel slapped a single through the left side to bring home senior Julia Suyak (Trenton, Mich.).
The Panthers would leave two runners in scoring position, though, and UIndy scored three runs in the sixth to earn breathing room.
The game was called after six innings due to darkness.
ODU managed just three hits in the second contest.
The Panthers remain at home Saturday as they begin GLIAC play with a doubleheader against Tiffin at 1 p.m. at Panther Field.
