NASHVILLE — Two runs in the fifth and sixth innings were not enough as Ohio Dominican's softball team fell 3-2 against Trevecca Nazarene on Friday.
Trailing 1-0 in the top of the fifth, freshman pitcher Abby Lamping (Cleves, OH) singled to center field and senior outfielder Montana Fishel (Gahanna, OH) scored to tie the game, 1-1.
A Trevecca Nazarene two-run home run in the bottom of the fifth put the Panthers in a 3-1 hole heading into the sixth.
In the top of the sixth, senior Brier Sanner (Hartville, OH) reached first base on an error, then proceeded to advance to second on a passed ball. With Sanner in scoring position, junior Casey Murdoch (Morrow, OH) singled to left field, scoring Sanner and cutting the deficit to just 3-2.
But the Panthers could not score in the seventh and dropped the contest, 3-2.
Sophomore pitcher Bailey Miller (Cincinnati, OH) went 3.2 innings, giving up three hits and one earned-run in the loss. Lamping and Murdoch each tallied RBI singles, while Sanner and sophomore Taylor Kline (Bellville, OH) each recorded one single.
The Panthers continue play at the Music City Invitational at Trevecca Nazarene University tomorrow. The squad will face Huntington at 1 p.m. and Truman at 3 p.m.
