LOUISVILLE – A three-run fourth inning by Bellarmine in game two was enough for the hosts to pull away from Ohio Dominican as the Panthers fell by scores of 9-1 and 4-1 on Sunday at Knights Field.

The second game was tied at one after sophomore Liz Sutter (Mansfield, Ohio) scored on a throwing error in the top of the third. However, a pair of doubles and a two-run homer by the Knights in the fourth inning gave them a 4-1 lead, and ODU managed just two more hits in the final three frames.

With the setbacks, the Panthers fell to 0-4 on the year, while Bellarmine improved to 7-7.

The Panthers managed just five hits in each game. In the opener, ODU trailed 2-1 in the third after senior Julia Suyak (Trenton, Mich.) hit an RBI single to center to plate Sutter.

ODU, though, would leave the bases loaded, and the Knights countered with six runs in the bottom of the third inning, taking advantage of three Panther errors. Bellarmine closed the game with a run in the sixth inning.

Suyak went 3-for-6 in the doubleheader while junior Kelly Wallace (Oshkosh, Wisc.) and senior Kelsey Albanese (Westerville, Ohio) each had a pair of hits.

Sophomore Bailey Miller (Cincinnati, Ohio) went the distance in the second game, allowing four runs and striking out four.

Ohio Dominican returns to the diamond Friday when it travels to Nashville to take on Trevecca Nazarene.
