Box Score ALLENDALE, Mich. — Ohio Dominican's women's soccer team dropped a 3-0 GLIAC contest at second-ranked Grand Valley State on Friday night.
The Panthers (4-5-4, 3-2-2 GLIAC) finished with eight shots overall and four shots on goal in the match, with ODU goalkeepers recording seven saves defensively.
Junior Alli Pavlik (Cortland, Ohio) finished with two shots overall and one shot on goal. Senior Kelly Johnson (Berea, Ohio) also recorded two shots and one shot on goal. Sophomore Jenna Fodor (Hilliard, Ohio) and freshman Cheyenne Story (Canfield, Ohio) each finished with one shot on goal for ODU.
At goalkeeper, sophomore Marissa Wierzbicki (Powell, Ohio) earned the start and finished with four saves and just one goal allowed against the potent Laker offense, which boasts the fourth-highest scoring offense in NCAA Division II with an average of 3.85 goals per match. Junior Kelsey Harris (Mason, Ohio) played the second half at goalie for the Panthers, recording three saves and two goals allowed in her 45 minutes between the posts.
GVSU scored in the eighth minute to take a 1-0 lead, but the Panthers held strong for the remaining 37 minutes of the half, limiting the Laker lead to just 1-0 at halftime.
But Grand Valley State was able to add to its lead in the second half and limit chances for the Panther offense. Goals in the 57th and 73rd minutes for Grand Valley State were too much for ODU to overcome, as the Panthers fell by a final score of 3-0.
ODU will look to get back in the win column as it travels to Ferris State on Sunday to take on the Bulldogs at Noon.
