Baseball Falls 6-1 To Grand Valley In Day Two At GLIAC Tournament

Box Score

XENIA, Ohio – A leadoff home run by freshman Jacob Tisevich (North Canton, Ohio) was the only offense Ohio Dominican's baseball team could muster as ODU fell 6-1 to Grand Valley State on Friday in the GLIAC Tournament.

The loss snapped ODU's 10-game winning streak and forces the Panthers into an elimination game at 2 p.m. Saturday against No. 6 seed Wayne State.

Tisevich hit an 0-2 pitch over the wall in left-center, his sixth blast of the season, and the Panthers would put runners on the corners later in the inning but could not push across another run.

GVSU answered with two runs in the bottom of the first, then tacked on another run in the fourth to go on top 3-1.

The Lakers continued to push their advantage, tacking on a run in the fifth and two more in the sixth on a home run to go on top 6-1.

ODU put two runners aboard in the sixth, seventh and ninth innings but could not score as they managed just five total hits in the game, compared to 11 for Grand Valley.

Freshman Lee Sponseller (Mason, Ohio) reached base in all four plate appearances, finishing 2-for-2 with a pair of walks, to lead the offense. He was the lone Panther with more than one hit, though.

ODU fell to 30-17 with the setback while the Lakers improved to 32-16.
