Box Score CANTON, Ohio – A 3-1 lead disappeared for Ohio Dominican's baseball team in the seventh inning as the Panthers fell 5-3 to host Malone in GLIAC play Monday afternoon at Thurman Munson Stadium.
With the setback, ODU drops to 12-12 (4-8 GLIAC), while the Pioneers improved to 16-12 (7-5 GLIAC).
The game was scoreless until the sixth inning, when freshman Lee Sponseller (Mason, Ohio) tripled home sophomore Tony Evans (Medway, Ohio).
Malone scored a run in the bottom half of the inning, but freshman Jacob Tisevich (North Canton, Ohio) had an RBI single in the seventh inning that would score both Cody Paterniti (Chardon, Ohio) and Justin Childers (Pickerington, Ohio) after a Malone throwing error to give the Panthers a 3-1 lead.
However, the Pioneers answered with four runs in the bottom half of the frame, and ODU left four runners on base in the eighth and ninth innings.
Tisevich had a pair of hits and an RBI to lead the Panthers, who finished with eight hits on the day.
Senior Ryan Bidwell (Syracuse, N.Y.) took the loss after allowing three earned runs in six-plus innings.
Ohio Dominican returns to action with a 4 p.m. non-conference game at Ohio Wesleyan on Tuesday.
