HILLSDALE, Mich. – Despite three hits from freshman Taylor Kline (Bellville, Ohio) in the opener and three hits by sophomore Kelly Wallace (Oshkosh, Wisc.) in the nightcap, Ohio Dominican's softball team suffered a pair of defeats at Hillsdale, falling 7-1 and 9-5 to the Chargers in GLIAC play.

In the opener, senior Taylor Thomas (Bellville, Ohio) hit an RBI single in the first inning that gave ODU the early lead, scoring Kline, but Hillsdale came back with four runs in the second and another in the third to go in front 5-1.

The Chargers (17-15, 8-6 GLIAC) scored twice more in the sixth inning, and ODU managed just one more run in the seventh on an RBI double off the bat of Kline that scored senior Kelsey Seeds (Westerville, Ohio).

Kline went 3-for-4 and junior Lizzy Weber (Canton, Ohio) finished 2-for-3, but ODU finished with just seven total hits in the game.

It was the fifth time Kline has had three or more hits in a game, and it was the fifth multi-hit game of the year for Weber as well.

In game two, an RBI single by junior Brier Sanner (Hartville, Ohio) in the second and Wallace's RBI double in the third tied the game at two.

Hillsdale answered with four runs in the fourth and three more in the fifth to go in front 9-2, though.

Weber hit an RBI single in the sixth and junior Devan Audette (Bronson, Mich.) and senior Brandis Fishel (Gahanna, Ohio) each had an RBI in the seventh to cap the scoring for ODU.

Wallace went 3-for-3 with a walk. The three hits were a season-high.

The Panthers (7-33, 3-15 GLIAC) play at Lake Erie at noon on Sunday.
