Box Score 2 CLERMONT, Fla. -- The Ohio Dominican softball team dropped two games on its final day during the NTC Spring Games to Northern State and No. 12 Winona State.
The Panthers fell to 3-16 overall on the season, and ended their spring trip with a record of 3-10. With the wins, Northern State improved to 11-5, while Winona State improved to 16-3.
Freshman Taylor Kline (Bellville, OH) logged three hits in six at-bats on the day and extended her hitting streak to nine games and her streak of reaching base safely to 10 games. Senior Kelsey Seeds (Westerville, OH) went 2-for-5 on the day, recording one run scored and one RBI.
Seniors Alex Cribari (Lyndhurst, OH) and Brandis Fishel (Gahanna, OH) also each logged two hits on the day.
In the first game against NSU, the Black and Gold fell behind early, allowing two runs in each of the first two innings to fall in a 4-0 hole.
The Panthers cut into the Wolves lead in the top half of the fourth inning scoring two runs. Seeds led off the inning with a double to left center. Sophomore Allie Hinton (Newcomerstown, OH) followed with a double of her own, as Seeds advanced to third.
RBI ground outs by junior Kelsey Albanese (Westerville, OH) and sophomore Casey Murdoch (Morrow, OH) led to the two Panther runs.
ODU, however, would give up a run in the bottom half of the inning as they fell 5-2.
The Panthers would strike early in game two against WSU, as Kline started the game with a leadoff single. Kline then advanced to second on a passed ball and Seeds drove her in from there with a RBI single to the left side.
The lead for the Panthers would hold true until the bottom of the fourth inning, when the Warriors logged four runs to take control of the game. WSU would add an insurance run in the bottom of the sixth, defeating ODU by a final score of 5-1.
The Black and Gold are scheduled to have their home opener next Thursday, March 19, as they welcome Urbana at 3:00 p.m. for a doubleheader.
