Box Score 4 Huntsville, Ala. -- The Ohio Dominican softball team competed in its first six games of the season at the UAH Charger Classic this past weekend.
Facing a tough schedule, including four teams which made appearances in the NCAA Regional tournament a season ago, the Panthers were unable to come away with a victory.
Three Panthers recorded a total of three hits over the final four games of the weekend including sophomores Allie Hinton (Newcomerstown, OH) and Casey Murdoch (Morrow, OH), and freshman Taylor Kline (Bellville, OH). Two of Hinton's hits were doubles, while she drove in four runs. Murdoch recorded four RBI as she was 3-of-6 at the plate. Kline scored 3-of-the-12 runs scored by the Panthers on Saturday and Sunday.
Murdoch held a team low 2.25 ERA over the final two days, giving up just three earned runs in 9.1 innings pitched. Freshman Haley Earl (Dyer, IN) also had an ERA under three at 2.47. Earl gave up two earned runs in 5.2 innings pitched.
ODU came close to picking up a victory in the first game on Saturday as the lost to Delta State by a final score of 5-4. The Panthers would hold a 2-1 lead after Murdoch and Hinton singles in the second and third innings.
ODU would then trail 4-2 heading into the top of the seventh and final inning, before Hinton drove in two runs on a double to right center to tie the game. The Panthers, however, would surrender a run in the bottom half of the inning to fall 5-4.

The Black and Gold will look rebound in two weeks as they travel to Evansville, Indiana on Saturday, February 21 and Sunday, February 22 for the Southern Indiana Spring Tournament.
