Box Score COLUMBUS, Ohio – A second half surge led the Ohio Dominican women's soccer team to a 6-1 victory over Malone in a Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference match Friday night at Panther Stadium.
The Panthers (7-4-0, 6-1 GLIAC) have now won 14 of their last 15 regular season conference matches, as well as five consecutive matches over the Pioneers (4-8-0, 2-5-0 GLIAC).
Coming off being named GLIAC Offensive Player of the Week, senior Lauren Pratt (West Chester, OH) continued to stay hot offensively, scoring one goal and adding an assist. Pratt has recorded at least one point in each of the last three matches and has a total of five points during the stretch.
Sophomore Allison Pavlik (Cortland, OH) added two goals in the match, giving her a total of four on the season, as she is tied with Pratt for the team lead.
Scoring her first goal of the season was junior Kethryn Mattingly (Beavercreek, OH), while freshman Meghan Martella (Cincinnati, OH) recorded her first collegiate goal.
Adding a career high three assists in the contest was junior Emily Riviello (Huber Heights, OH), while junior Kelly Johnson (Berea, OH) scored her second goal of the season.
With the Panthers holding a 2-1 lead to start the second half, ODU scored four goals in the second frame, two coming in the opening six minutes of the half, and two more in the final 10 minutes of the match.
Johnson would score from six yards out on a cross from junior Amanda Fodor (Hilliard, OH) in the 49th minute.
Less than two minutes later, Riviello would carry the ball down the left flank, crossing it to Pavlik as she would finish to the lower right corner of the net, giving ODU a 4-1 advantage.
In the 84th minute, Mattingly would score on a penalty kick, and Martella would then score in the 86th minute from 20 yards out as her shot hit the cross bar before passing the goal line to cap the scoring for the Black and Gold.
The Panthers continued to stay true to their recent trend of scoring in the opening 10 minutes of matches, as Pavlik would score off one touch passes from Pratt and Riviello at 9:49.
In the 17th minute Pratt scored her 24th career goal as two of Riviello's shots were saved before Pratt cleaned up the rebound, chipping it over the MU goalkeeper.
The Pioneers answered in the first half with a goal in the 38th minute as ODU would take the 2-1 lead into the break.
The Black and Gold held a 25-9 advantage in shots for the match. The Panthers also outdueled the Pioneers 12-2 in shots on goal. ODU also shutout MU in corner kicks, holding a 9-0 advantage.
The Panthers will welcome No. 4 Grand Valley State for a rematch of the 2014 GLIAC tournament championship at noon on Sunday, October 11. The two 2014 co-GLIAC regular season champions will battle at Panther Stadium.
