LAKE ERIE HIGHLIGHTS - STORIED RIVALS
INSIDE PANTHER FOOTBALL PODCAST
COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Winners of consecutive home games, Ohio Dominican's football team hits the road for the first time in three weeks as the Panthers take on Hillsdale at 2:30 p.m. Saturday.
ODU (3-2, 3-2 GLIAC) defeated Walsh 19-10 on Sept. 26 and Lake Erie 48-26 on Oct. 3 in Panther Stadium to move back above .500.
The Panther defense did its part in each of those games. Despite allowing 440.0 yards per game between the two contests, the Panthers allowed just one offensive touchdown in the first three quarters of each game.
ODU's four leading tacklers against Lake Erie each totaled career-bests in that category. Sophomore Tre McIntyre (North Lewisburg, Ohio) led the way with eight stops, while junior Demetrius Farmer (Dover, Ohio), sophomore Nick Isaacs (Cincinnati, Ohio) and redshirt freshman Ross Thompson (Delphos, Ohio) each made seven tackles, combining for two sacks and six tackles for loss.
Senior Da'Twane Harris (Cleveland, Ohio) blocked a punt – tying a school record with his fifth career block – and also had an interception to help lead ODU, which finished with three sacks, 13 tackles for loss and two forced fumbles.
The offense produced its most yards on the season, tallying 452 yards. ODU totaled 396 yards (including defensive penalty yardage) on its final seven possessions, leading to 38 points over the final 31 minutes of action.
Senior Casey Williams (Nashport, Ohio) set a career high with 129 yards receiving and two touchdowns, his second straight 100-yard game. Freshman Dar Stanford (Zanesville, Ohio) had 52 yards receiving, a new personal best as well.
Sophomore quarterback Grant Russell (Newark, Ohio) finished 15-of-28 for 246 yards and the two scores. After starting the game 2-of-11 for nine yards and a pick, Russell completed 13 of his last 17 throws for 237 yards and the touchdowns.
Esaias Chapman (Waverly Hall, Ga.) ran for two scores – his first at the collegiate level - and 78 yards and senior Justin Davis (Detroit, Mich.) had a 44 yard touchdown run as well.
Senior Brent Wahle (Pataskala, Ohio) hit field goals from 46 and 27 yards out to give him 59 in his career, the most of any active Division II player and the third most of any active kicker in college football.
Senior Michael Snyder (Clayton, Ohio) averaged 41.2 yards per punt (40.2 net) and dropped three punts inside the 20.
