Box Score WINTER HAVEN, Fla. – Ohio Dominican's baseball team scored the game's first 10 runs and cruised to a 19-1 victory over Alderson Broaddus on Sunday, marking the largest margin of victory for ODU since 2003.
Junior Phil Jaskot (Upper Arlington, Ohio) hit a grand slam and knocked in six and senior Jossue Delgado (Barinas, Venezuela) also homered as ODU pounded out 16 hits in the victory.
The 18-run margin is the largest since the Panthers also tallied a 19-1 victory over Wooster in 2003, and the 19 runs are the most by ODU since a 21-4 victory over Findlay in 2012.
Junior Marcus Schluessler (Zanesville, Ohio) had three hits (two doubles) while senior Anthony Raschilla (Girard, Ohio), Bryan Rudolph (Pickerington, Ohio), junior Ronn Bidwell (Syracuse, N.Y.) and freshman Tony Evans (Medway, Ohio) each had two hits apiece.
The offensive outburst backed an impressive effort from sophomore Austin Bueter (Wauseon, Ohio), who fanned 11 to match a career-high. He worked six innings, allowing one run on six hits.
ODU scored once in the first, then put up a trio of three-run innings in the second, third and fourth innings to essentially put the game away. Big hits included Schluesser's RBI double in the second and a two-run double off the bat of Rudolph in the third.
Delgado's two-run blast came in the fourth inning and was the second of his career, while Jaskot's grand slam was part of a nine-run eighth inning in which the Panthers sent 13 batters to the plate.
The Panthers return to action for a doubleheader against Saint Joseph's (Ind.) College beginning at 1 p.m. on Monday.
