Box Score 2 ASHLAND, Ohio – Ohio Dominican's softball team dropped both ends of a GLIAC doubleheader on Friday, falling 7-1 and 6-2 to host Ashland.
With the setbacks, ODU now stands at 20-26-1 (15-9 GLIAC), while the Eagles improved to 24-15 (15-6). The Panthers, who are fifth in the conference standings, wrap up regular season play at Malone on Saturday.
The Panthers got off to a quick start in the opener, as sophomore Alex Cribari (Lyndhurst, Ohio) launched a solo shot to right field in the opening inning to stake ODU to a 1-0 lead.
Ashland scored three runs in the second to go in front, though, and a pair of home runs in the fourth and fifth innings helped put the game away for the Eagles.
Freshman Kelsey Albanese (Westerville, Ohio) had two of ODU's five hits, while Ashland finished with 11 hits.
In game two, Ashland scored five runs in the third and another in the fourth to jump to a 6-0 lead.
The Panthers scored their runs on an RBI single to center by freshman Elisabeth Weber (Canton, Ohio) in the sixth, scoring Cribari, and an RBI basehit by sophomore Taylor Thomas (Bellville, Ohio) in the seventh, which also scored Cribari.
Thomas, Weber and junior Caitlin Jividen (Wheeling, W. Va.) each had two hits for the Panthers in game two.
First pitch Saturday is slated for 1 p.m. at Malone.
