Baseball Bounces Back With 7-4 Win at Findlay

Box Score

FINDLAY, Ohio – A three-run ninth inning helped Ohio Dominican's baseball team fend off host Findlay as the Panthers scored a 7-4 win in GLIAC action Sunday.

The victory snapped ODU's three-game losing skid as the Panthers improved to 13-19 (9-9 GLIAC), while the Oilers fell to 14-16 (7-11).

After ODU's 4-0 lead was cut to one in the seventh, the Panthers pushed across three runs to earn some breathing room. Sophomore Phil Jaskot (Upper Arlington, Ohio) led off with a double and later came in to score on a Findlay throwing error.

Senior Ryan Rovnak (Poland, Ohio) then walked and junior Jossue Delgado (Barinas, Venezuela) was hit by a pitch to load the sacks with one out, and sophomore Kyle Tisdale (Uniontown, Ohio) delivered with a sacrifice fly to score freshman Jacob Horsley (Thornville, Ohio) and make it 6-3. Freshman Collin Parcher (Napoleon, Ohio) then followed with an RBI single that bumped the lead to four runs.

Findlay scored out on a two-out RBI single in the ninth and had the bases loaded, but sophomore Vince Bartolone (Broadview Heights, Ohio) worked out of any further trouble by inducing a fly out to center to end the game.

Sophomore Daniel Mooney (Wauconda, Ill.) was strong in improving to 4-3 on the spring, holding the Oilers off the board in the first six frames and yielding three unearned runs total. He worked 6.1 innings and allowed just five hits and one walk while fanning four.

ODU scored first in the third inning as junior Anthony Raschilla (Girard, Ohio) led off the inning with a double and came across on Horsley's RBI basehit to center. The Panthers then tacked on an unearned run in the fourth as junior Bryan Rudolph (Pickerington Ohio) reached on an error and came in to score on Raschilla's double to the gap in left-center.

The Panthers extended their lead to 4-0 as Horsley doubled to start the fifth and, with two down, Delgado tripled down the left field line. Tisdale followed with a base knock to left field for the four-run advantage.

Mooney, who allowed just three hits through the first six innings, was hurt by a pair of errors and two Findlay hits in the seventh, which led to three Oiler runs. Senior Alex Borgan (Pickerington, Ohio) relieved and ended the inning with a strikeout to leave two Oilers on base.

Tisdale finished with two hits and two RBI, while Raschilla and Horsley also had two hits apiece for the Panthers.

Ohio Dominican is back on the road for a 3 p.m. contest at Lake Erie on Tuesday.
