COLUMBUS, Ohio— The Ohio Dominican men's soccer team welcomes the Pioneers of Malone (5-6-1, 5-4-1 GLIAC) to Panther Field this Friday, Oct. 26, in a GLIAC South Division rematch at 7 p.m. The Panthers should have all the momentum going into this game being on a four game win streak giving them a record of 11-4-1 on the season and 8-3 in the GLIAC.

About the Panthers:
The Panthers have continued to play well late in their season now having a four game win streak and being the new leaders of the GLIAC South Division by three points. This past week the Panthers went on the road to Urbana and beat the Knights in a tough battle, 2-1. The Panthers then returned home to host a feisty Lake Erie team and won in a close 1-0 decision.
Against the Storm, senior Justin Wheeler (Gahanna, Ohio) tallied his fifth goal of the season with a cheeky chip shot off of a lead pass from sophomore Frazer Fernandes (Gahanna, Ohio) in seventh minute of the game.
Once the Panthers scored it was a defensive battle for the remaining 83 minutes. The Panther defense held tight, allowing only three shots in the first half and just four in the second. ODU had more opportunities than the Storm outshooting them 18-7 and held a 4-3 corner advantage.
About the Pioneers:
The Pioneers are also starting to heat up late in the season as they are heading into the game on a two game win streak against nationally ranked Notre Dame (OH) and Walsh. Malone will be coming into the matchup very hungry to meet a goal set by head coach Brian Stock early in the season, which was to be able to reach the NCAA post season. With a win against the Panthers Malone can do just that.
The most notable recent win for Malone was last Friday against the past GLIAC front-runner Notre Dame (OH). Notre Dame entered the game ranked No. 23 but that was no scare for the Pioneers as junior Josh Abend (North Ridgeville, Ohio) berried the lone goal of the game off the pass from senior Adam Sharpnack (Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania).
About the series:
Malone and ODU had a tight battle earlier in the season at Pioneer Soccer Field. Malone ended up winning the match 2-1 with scores from junior Rubem Miranda (Florianopolis, Brazil) and Sam Tonelli (Huntington Valley, Ohio). Sophomore Frazer Fernandes scored the lone goal for Ohio Dominican.
