ODU Men's Soccer Host Conference Rival Ashland

COLUMBUS, Ohio- - The Ohio Dominican men's soccer team (6-4-1, 5-3 GLIAC) has a tough weekend ahead as they host Ashland (7-3-1, 5-3 GLIAC) tonight and Walsh (3-8, 3-6 GLIAC), Sunday, October 14.

About the Panthers:

After taking a tough 2-1 loss to North Division foe Tiffin in double overtime, the Panthers look to bounce back with two strong wins at home against worthy opponents. Currently standing at second in the GLIAC South Division with an overall record of 6-4-1 and a conference record of 5-3, the Panthers are in much need of a few wins at home this weekend. Those wins would secure their second ranking and possibly a tie for first in the South Division, after conference leader Notre Dame (OH) was upset by ninth ranked Lake Erie last week.

Last week against Tiffin senior Tyler Huerkamp (Loveland, Ohio) scored his first goal of the season with a cheeky chip over the goalies head off of a pass from senior Justin Wheeler (Cincinnati, Ohio) in the 25th minute of the game. The Panthers outshot the Dragon's 8-6 in the second half but could not connect for a score. Freshman goalie Macklin Robinson (Cincinnati, Ohio) snagged seven saves but fell just short of tallying another victory.

About the Eagles:

Last Sunday the Eagles took a 5-3 loss to Walsh in a high scoring GLIAC battle. The Eagles currently stand at second in the North Division and third overall in the GLIAC.

Ashland has scored twenty times this season averaging 14.4 shots a game and only allowing opponents thirteen scores. Senior Jamie Dollar (Perrysburg, Ohio) leads the Eagles with four goals this season.

About the Series:

These two teams first met in 2004 where the Eagles walked away with a 2-1 victory on Panther Field. Since then, Ashland has managed a 2-5-2 series record against ODU. The last win for the Panthers came in early 2011 when the Panthers topped the Eagles 2-1 at home.
