COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Ohio Dominican's football team looks to bounce back from a 44-21 defeat against ninth-ranked Ashland as the Panthers hit the road to take on GLIAC South Division foe Findlay at 3 p.m. Saturday.
ODU grabbed a 21-13 lead late in the second quarter against Ashland, but the Eagles would score the game's final 31 points to claim the victory. Ashland doubled up the Panthers in total yards (556-278), held the football for 38 minutes, and limited ODU to just one first down in the second half.
Freshman running back Brandon Schoen (Olentangy, Ohio) rushed for 109 yards on 22 carries and freshman receiver Ronald McCloud (Cleveland, Ohio) hauled in passes of 65 and 56 yards to finish as ODU's top wideout, finishing with 119 yards on five grabs. Freshman Billy Eakins (Pickerington, Ohio) registered a season-best 16 catches, while senior Eisen Hardy (Pickerington, Ohio) and junior Justin Bell (Groveport, Ohio) both had 11 tackles and sophomore Martavius Lewis (Wellington, Fla.) finished with nine. Freshman Di'Andre Harrison (Columbus, Ohio) had two sacks as well.
ODU scored first on a 65-yard TD pass from freshman Tajuan Green (Columbus, Ohio) to McCloud in the first quarter, and scored twice in the second on a 19-yard pass from sophomore Mark Miller (Cincinnati, Ohio) to classmate Abe Johnson (Cincinnati, Ohio) and a 19-yard scamper by Schoen.
Ashland, though, was able to answer each ODU touchdown drive with one of its own, including a TD march of 78 yards in just 1:07 before halftime to trim the Panther lead to 21-20. The Eagles scored on the opening possession of the second half as well and did not look back from there.
The contest against Findlay features two evenly matched teams in the GLIAC. The Panthers score an average of 35.0 points per game and yield 25.7, while the Oilers are scoring 33.8 points per game and allowing 26.2.

THE SERIES
This is the third meeting between ODU and Findlay, with each team defending its home turf in the series. ODU won 20-10 at Panther Field in 2010, the first GLIAC and Division II win for the program, but fell 27-24 to Findlay last year at Donnell Stadium.
ODU outgained Findlay 451-309 and ran for 299 yards, but turned the ball over three times, including a critical pick-six before halftime that cut ODU's lead to 10-6. Two more fourth quarter turnovers halted the Panthers' comeback chances.
