Panthers Welcome Lake Erie for First Trip to Columbus in GLIAC Matchup

FULL RELEASE IN PDF

COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Following a terrific performance last weekend against Tiffin, Ohio Dominican's football team returns to the field Saturday to take on GLIAC South Division opponent Lake Erie in Panther Field.

ODU rolled to a 62-7 victory over the Dragons, racking up 480 yards of offense while holding the Dragons to minus-17 yards rushing. It was the first time the Panthers have limited an opponent to negative rushing yardage ODU's defense set a school-record with seven sacks while also registering five takeaways.

The Panther offense rushed for 276 yards, the fourth-best mark in school history, and despite attempting a school-record low nine passes, completed eight of them for 208 yards and four touchdowns. The 62 points scored was tied for the third-most in a game in school single-season history, and the 55-point margin of victory was the biggest since ODU's 56-0 victory over Urbana on Nov. 8, 2008.

Mike Noffsinger continued his assault on the ODU record books as he set new career marks with 423 rushing attempts and 23 touchdowns and broke his own single-season rushing record, becoming poised to be the first player in school history with 1,000 rushing yards in a season. Tyler Purcell became the first player in school history to surpass 1,000 yards rushing and receiving.

Eli Kovach had seven tackles (3.0 for loss) and 2.5 sacks, Garrett Wilcox had two tackles for loss, Cody Culbertson had two tackles for loss and a forced fumble, and Justin Bell had a fumble recovery and an interception as well.
