Ohio Dominican Closes 2010 Campaign With Trip to Indianapolis

COLUMBUS, Ohio -- After dropping two straight contests, Ohio Dominican's football team will look to end its inaugural season in the GLIAC on a high note as the Panthers hit the road to take on the University of Indianapolis in the season finale at 2 p.m. Saturday.

It will be ODU's eighth all-time contest in the state of Indiana and first since the Panthers fell 35-0 at St. Francis on Oct. 4, 2008.

Ohio Dominican suffered a 44-15 setback at the hands of Ashland last week as the Eagles won their sixth straight contest of the season. Trailing 14-0 midway through the second quarter, Nate Weeks blocked a punt out of the back of the end zone for a safety, and ODU took over possession on its own 40 after the free kick. However, an interception on the first play halted the Panther momentum, and Ashland went in to score a touchdown before the break to make it 21-2 at halftime.

Ashland quickly built its lead to 31-2 in the second half to pull away with the victory. Jeremy Scott accounted for both of the Panther touchdowns as he scored twice from a yard out in the second half. Mike Noffsinger rushed for 123 yards to become ODU's single-season rushing leader and Vincent Vasquez made a game-high 12 tackles to pace the Panther defense.

For the contest, Ohio Dominican was outgained 452-282 and was hampered by four turnovers, just the third time all season ODU has lost the turnover battle.

THE SERIES

Saturday marks the first meeting between the two schools. Indianapolis is an affiliate member of the GLIAC, competing in football and swimming and diving, and is a full-time member of the GLVC. Tiffin and Lake Erie are the lone two schools on ODU's schedule that the Panthers faced prior to 2010.
