Box Score DELAWARE, Ohio – On a wet and chilly Saturday evening, the Ohio Dominican men's soccer team posted two separate one goal leads, but could not hang on as NCAA Division III No. 12 Ohio Wesleyan rallied for the 3-2 non-conference victory, snapping the Panthers six-game road win streak.
After playing to a scoreless tie for the first 47 minutes of the game, the teams combined for five in goals in less than a 13 minute stretch to start the second half.
The Panthers got on the board first as junior Felix Darko (Reynoldsburg, OH) scored off a blocked shot by Liam Fitzgerald (Sr./Hudson, OH) at the 47:47 mark for his team-leading fifth score of the year.
The Battlin' Bishops responded with a score of their own as Tyler Wall headed in a Matt Shadoan cross in the 55th minute, knotting the score a 1-1.
ODU quickly countered to regain the lead 29 seconds later as freshman Duncan Campbell (Hilliard, OH) headed in a perfect Tyler Huerkamp (So./Loveland, OH) cross from just inside the left side goal box.
OWU knotted the score at 2-2 at the 57:37 mark as Tyler Wall knocked in his second goal of the game on a penalty kick after a Panther hand ball inside the box.
The Battlin' Bishops grabbed their first lead of the evening just over two minutes later in the 61st as Travis Wall sent in a loose ball in front of the ODU net.
The Panthers managed only five shots the rest of the way as they fell for the first time on the road this season (6-1-0).
With the come-from-behind victory, OWU improves to 8-1-1, while ODU drops to 7-2-0.
The Panthers continue non-conference play, returning home to host Slippery Rock University (7-2-1) at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 5 at Panther Field.
