COLUMBUS, Ohio – Coming off two road shutouts last weekend, the Ohio Dominican women's soccer team was in position to take over first place of the GLIAC South Division, but division leader Tiffin rallied with two second half goals to take the 2-1 come-from-behind win and preserve their place at the top of the standings on Friday evening.
The Panthers battled to a scoreless stalemate in the first half managing only five shots and one shot on goal.
The offense came alive just over three minutes into the second half as senior Anna Cameron (Calgary, AB) connected on her first score of the year from 18 yards out off a pass from Megan Wharton (So./Pickerington, OH).
ODU just missed on a two-goal lead in the 71st minute as Cameron's shot from the left side beat the diving keeper, but ricocheted off the far post.
The Panthers held the 1-0 margin until the 76:36 mark when Shelly Rogers nailed the equalizer from about 12 yards out off a cross from the right side by Ashley Davis.
Less than eight minutes later the Dragons (8-4-1; 6-3-1 GLIAC) struck again as Lauren Bowyer scored the eventual game-winner, heading in a perfectly placed Rogers' corner in front of the goal area.
ODU managed two of their three total corner kicks over the remaining five minutes of the game, but could not get a good look on goal as they fell for just the third time this season.
A quick turnaround awaits the Panthers (8-3-2; 4-3-2) as they host second place, Findlay, at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 17 at Panther Field as part of another ODU soccer doubleheader.
