Panthers Take Down Daemen in Three

COLUMBUS , Ohio – The Ohio Dominican volleyball team was playing on pure emotion on Saturday as they electrified Alumni Hall with a dramatic three game victory over Daemen College .   ODU was not only continuing the homecoming celebration, but also honored veteran head coach Sandy Rowley before the game for her 20th season leading the volleyball program.

The Panthers fell behind early in game one, but rallied from a six point deficit to storm all the way back for a game one victory, 25-22.   With the win ODU swung the momentum and took control of the net as they combined for a total of 14 kills in game one.  Ohio Dominican continued to roll in game two as the defense made the plays this time in the 25-23 victory.   In the third and final game ODU took advantage of 14 kills to earn the victory by the score of 25-21.

Ohio Dominican combined for a total of 37 kills, 13 blocks and 91 digs to earn their third straight set victory in a row.

The Panthers were led by senior Jessica Buzenski (Columbus , OH) and sophomore Ashley Croy (Ottawa , OH) with eight kills apiece.   Stacy Rogg (Cincinnati , OH) added six kills and a team high 21 digs in the victory.   Elyse Mongillo (Columbiana , OH) and Cassie Schroeder (Columbus Grove , OH) combined for a total of 28 of the Panthers 34 assists.

ODU, now 10-7 overall and 2-1 in the AMC, return to action next Tuesday, September 30th as they travel to Portsmouth , Ohio to face the Shawnee State Bears.   Game time is set for 7 p.m.
