Columbus, Ohio - The Ohio Dominican Panthers kicked off their season with a 2-1 win at home where they took on the University of Indianapolis Greyhounds on Saturday, August 29th.
The Greyhounds scored first with an early corner kick goal scored by Frances Poulos, assisted by Nicole Scroeder. Twenty minutes after, the Panthers own Ashlyn Haeft had an incredible shot and scored for the Panthers late in the first half. In the late second half, Ashley Yontz scored off of a penalty kick, which helped secure the win for the Panthers. The Panthers defended the final minutes of the game to keep the Greyhounds from scoring.Â
Ohio Dominican had great defense only allowing 9 shots from the Greyhounds. Goalkeeper Ashley Fancher had 4 saves. The Panthers had 20 shots throughout the game.Â
Ashley Fancher, Emma French, and Lucy Ewing all had their first career starts in today's match against the Greyhounds.Â
The ladies are on the road to Detroit, Michigan on September 4th for their next match against Wayne State.
