COLUMBUS, Ohio - Opening a midweek home-and-home series, the Ohio Dominican Panthers (13-16) baseball team hosted their conference foe - the Ashland Eagles (21-11) at Frank Damian Field at Panther Valley on Tuesday (April 7).
Ashland took game one of the series with an 11-1 win over the Panthers ahead of the series finale next week.
The Eagles scored runs in each of the first three innings, leading 4-0 before the Panthers cracked the scoring column.
Braden Reed led off the fourth inning with a single and moved all the way to third base on an error and a passed ball. A fielder's choice off the bat of
Noah Schacht plated Reed as the Panthers trailed 4-1.
Back-to-back three run frames for Ashland in the fifth and sixth innings pushed the visitors' lead to 10-1. A final run came across in the eighth inning to close the scoring in favor of Ashland 11-1.
Grant Horne and Reed each had two hits in the game as the Panthers totaled six hits overall. ODU was hit a season-high five times.
Ohio Dominican heads to Cedarville for a four-game series starting on Friday (April 10).
