Dominant Play in Canton Leads Panthers to Another Sweep

CANTON, OH – Closing out their northern road trip and regular-season road slate, the Ohio Dominican Panthers continued their strong conference play with a doubleheader sweep of the Malone Pioneers. ODU took game one, 5–1, before completing the sweep with a dominant 7–0 shutout in game two.

Game One (W, 5–1)
Ohio Dominican used a late offensive push to secure a 5–1 victory, tallying eight hits in the contest. Malone struck first with an RBI single, but the Panthers responded in the third inning when Reese Loveday tied the game with a solo home run.

ODU took the lead in the fourth after Lilah Flores reached on a bunt single, allowing Saadie Maysonet to score on an unearned run. The Panthers pulled away in the later innings, beginning in the sixth when Emma Grau launched her first career home run, bringing in Flores to extend the lead to 4–1.

In the seventh, Evan Platfoot added insurance, doubling to center field and later scoring on a wild pitch to make it 5–1.

At the plate, Flores went a perfect 2-for-2 with an RBI and a run scored, while Grau drove in two runs. Avery Mueller also contributed with two hits.

In the circle, Alyvia Lawrentz earned the win, allowing just one run on seven hits while striking out five in a complete-game effort.

Game Two (W, 7–0)
The Panthers carried their momentum into game two, dominating in a 7–0 shutout behind an 11-hit performance and a clean defensive showing.

Emma Grau led the way both at the plate and in the circle. After hitting her first career home run in game one, she added two more in game two, finishing 2-for-2 with a walk. She also tossed a complete-game shutout, allowing just four hits while striking out three.

ODU opened the scoring in the third inning as Grau hit her second home run of the day. Later in the inning, Avery Mueller delivered a two-RBI double to score Halina Schulte and Reese Loveday, giving the Panthers a 3–0 lead.

The offense surged again in the fifth, adding four runs. Grau led off the inning with another home run, while Schulte recorded an RBI to score Loveday. Mueller later drove in Addie Triplett, and Saadie Maysonet capped the scoring with an RBI single to secure the 7–0 win.

Mueller finished 3-for-4 with two RBIs, while Loveday and Maysonet each added two hits.

The sweep marks Ohio Dominican's seventh conference sweep of the season as they prepare for their final regular-season doubleheader and Senior Day on Sunday, April 26. First pitch is scheduled for 12 p.m. and 2 p.m. against the Northwood Timberwolves, with senior celebrations to follow.
