Panthers Surge into Postseason with Seventh Straight Win, Capturing Senior Day Sweep

COLUMBUS, OH – As the G-MAC Tournament approaches next week, the Ohio Dominican Panthers wrapped up their final regular-season doubleheader on Panther Field, taking on the Northwood Timberwolves while honoring the 2026 senior class: Lilly Irvine, Saadie Maysonet, Olivia Congleton, and Kendrick Sterling.

The Panthers extended their winning streak to seven games, also securing their third consecutive sweep. ODU powered through game one with a 12–5 victory before edging out a 2–0 win in a tightly contested game two.

Game One (W, 12–5)
Both teams showcased strong offensive performances, tallying 11 hits apiece.

The Panthers struck early in the first inning, as Avery Mueller singled to center field to drive in Erica Massey, who reached on a bunt single. Shortly after, Halina Schulte delivered a two-run home run to center—her second of the season—giving ODU a commanding 3–0 lead.

Northwood responded in the top of the third, scoring two runs via an RBI walk and a sacrifice fly to cut the deficit to 3–2. The Panthers quickly answered with a dominant five-run inning. Reese Loveday drew a walk, followed by a bunt single from Massey. Senior Olivia Congleton then doubled to right-center to bring in a run. Mueller added an RBI bunt, and Saadie Maysonet followed with a two-RBI single to extend the lead to 7–2. An additional run scored on a Northwood error, making it 8–2.

In the fourth inning, Northwood added a solo home run, but Mueller responded with her first home run of the day—a two-run shot—to push the lead to 10–2.

Northwood capped its scoring in the sixth with a two-run homer, but Mueller struck again, blasting her second home run of the game to secure the 12–5 final. She finished with a career-high six RBIs.

In the circle, Alyvia Lawrentz earned her 14th win, pitching a complete game while allowing five runs and recording two strikeouts. Mueller led the offense with a 3-for-4 performance, two home runs, and six RBIs, while Maysonet and Schulte each added two RBIs.

Game Two (W, 2–0)
After an offensive showcase in game one, the Panthers settled into a defensive battle in game two.

Emma Grau continued her dominant stretch in the circle, tossing her third consecutive shutout. She allowed just five hits on an efficient 71 pitches, improving her record to 13–9.

ODU's offense was limited but timely, recording three hits and two runs. Grau and Olivia Congleton each drove in a run, with Congleton delivering a home run in her final appearance on Panther Field.

The Panthers broke the scoreless tie in the bottom of the fifth inning. Kendrick Sterling sparked the rally with a double to right-center. A bunt by Leea Ibarra advanced pinch runner Evan Platfoot, setting up Grau's sacrifice fly to bring in the game's first run.

ODU added insurance in the sixth inning when Congleton launched a solo home run over left field, giving the Panthers a 2–0 lead. The pitching and defense held firm in the seventh to secure the shutout and complete the sweep.
