PAWLEYS ISLAND, S.C. - To open the Spring segment of the season, the Ohio Dominican Panthers women's golf team headed south to the beach for the Pawley's Island Beach Bash on Monday (March 9) and Tuesday (March 10). 

ODU shot a 329 in the first round and improved themselves with a 318 in the second round, combining for a 647 (+71) in fifth place. 

The Panthers had nine birdies (tied for fourth most) and 99 pars (fifth most in the tournament). 

• Maria Briceno Vargas: 2nd place with an 8-over 152, tallying two rounds of 4-over 76
  • Made five birdies for the tournament (tied for second most)
• Sydney Devore & Marissa Cline: Finished tied for 24th place as both shot a 166 (+22)
  • Devore scored 85 and 9-over 81 for her rounds and Cline had individual scores of 86 and 8-over 80
• Ava Kemp & Alana Miller: Finished tied for 31st place with a 168 (+24)
  • Kemp turned in scores of 82 and 86, respectively (36-hole total is season-low) while Miller had rounds of 87 and 9-over 81 as one of the individuals
• Mia Steigerwald: 173 (+29) in a 42nd place tie after scoring 92 and 9-over 81 (season-low round)
• Alyssa Rishty: 46th place overall, scoring a 175 (+31) with scores of 93 and an 82
• Meg Saffell: 53rd place with an 182 (+38), shot 93 in round one and 89 in the second round

The team will go to North Carolina for the Catawba Patsy Rendleman Invitational in two weeks.
